Hey Friends welcome back!!
We have been learning “all about me” and staying healthy with our experience early learning curriculum. Today i am going to share with you our dental health day.
During Circle time I introduced our lesson by asking a few questions. “How do you brush your teeth? What do you use? Why do we need to clean our teeth?” I used A mega block with Play-Doh and we explored different ways to brush teeth: up and down, in circles, side to side.

Here is a little song I like to sing
Brush brush brush your teeth
brush them every day
up-and-down and all around
keep the sugar bugs away.
Today in Creative Art we did a really cute tooth brushing craft.
Brushing Teeth

Supplies (from EEL)
• Inspiration photo
• Toothbrush
• Paper tooth
Your Supplies
• paint
• Scissors
• Glue
• Mirror
Set Up
• set out the inspiration photo and additional supplies.
Prompts
• what shape are your teeth? What color are they?
• How many teeth do you have? Would you like to paint on the paper tooth?
• enamel keeps our teeth strong and healthy. How can you make enamel on your picture?
• Why do you think you have a tongue and lips? Will you add those to your picture?
( I have a younger group so i did not use the paint as enamel. We used the paint to simply practice brushing skills. Up and down, in circles, side to side.) This is another reason why I love our preschool curriculum so much because it can easily be adjusted to any age group.
Observe: does the child’s art communicate about his understanding of teeth?

Pulling Teeth (Table top math)
Supplies
• foam die
• Pulling teeth poster
• Beads
• Tweezers
How to play: (This can be independent play if you have older children or simply play together if you have a younger group. )
• set out the pulling teeth poster, beads and tweezers on the table for children to explore. ( I kept the beads in my hand to adjust this activity to be age-appropriate)
• Roll the dice and remove that many teeth with the tweezers.
• Encourage children to count the remaining teeth (beads).
Observe: observe how the child explores concepts of more and less. Does he add and remove teeth from the poster?

Time To Floss
Materials
• One large mega block
• Play-Doh
• Dental floss
• Simply show your child how to use the floss to remove the play dough.
• Having the children scoop the play dough out from in between the mega block is a great fine motor experience and it shows how important thorough flossing can be, especially if your child observes small pieces of play dough being left behind!

I hope you all had a great week and we will see you again next week. Thanks for stopping by.
