Creative Careers

Welcome back!!

It’s been another great week of exploring through Experience Early Learning ( formerly mother goose time) This week in our community helpers unit, with our preschool curriculum ,we covered Creative Careers. These community helpers have more of a creative or artists focus. This week we covered: A Musician, actor, dancer, author, and illustrator.

If there is one thing my little group loves to do more then anything it is to sing and dance. The children had a great time making Microphones and shakers, and boy did they love putting on a show.

Another activity, that really was a huge hit this week with our Preschool curriculum ,was our Dancing Paintbrush. I set out the Inspirational photo which is supplied by our preschool curriculum and I asked them if they noticed the long graceful strokes of the paintbrush on the paper. I then taped their canvas onto the wall and turned on some music. I then asked the children to move their paintbrush as if there were dancing to the music. I changed the music to different beats and they had a blast.

Even my sweet little Toddler enjoyed this activity using his dancing hands

This week we also talked about how many books have an author and a illustrator. We discussed how the author writes the words and the illustrator draws the pictures. We looked through many books and looked for the Author’s name and the illustrators name.

Now, who loves Fancy Nancy books?? We made some really fun mask and then sat down and read Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet https://www.amazon.com/dp/0061703818/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Hpv3DbDMD7K0K

Thanks again for stopping by we will see y’all again next week.

Community Helpers In The Neighborhood

Community helpers help us in our daily lives and it is important that our children learn to understand how important their jobs are in our community. Children begin to discover that it is important to work together and improve and maintain where they live.

Some of our neighborhood community helpers we touched on were mail carrier, construction worker, teacher, recycler, and plumber.

Mail carrier

the children had a great time making a mail carrier bag and then making postcards. We made a little town in our classroom and the children had a great time pretending to deliver their mail.

Construction Worker

I have a daycare full of boys and they loved making their own hammers out of our preschool curriculum kit. The boys had a great time pretending to fix things in our classroom and then we played a matching game with our hammers. The matching game also allowed the children to work on their fine motor skills by cutting out the game pieces.

I also set out foam shapes and mats on the table and the children used the foam shapes to build the designs in the shape mats.

Teacher

Who loves to play school?? Well my group loves to help play teacher during circle time so everyone got their chance today. We also worked on the letter J today and we also used blocks to build words.

Recycler

I just love when mother gooses time has a song to open up our daily theme.

Recycle and reuse song

( to the tone of Skip to My Lou )

Recycle and reuse,

Recycle and reuse,

Recycle and reuse,

Bring the plastic [ glass, aluminum, paper] here.

After each verse, the child holding that material had to drop it into the recycling bin.

We also had fun sorting recyclables and making patterns.

Plumber

What do you think happens when something gets stuck in a pipe? Call a plumber

We made some pipes out of recycled toilet paper and paper towel rolls and each child took turns rolling the dice, next they counting out that many pompoms and dropped it down the pipe.

At table time I showed a picture of pipes to the children. I gave them paper, strews, glue, and scissors. Next I asked them to design their own pipe sculpture using the materials given.

We had another great week. See you again next week. Order your preschool curriculum here https://www.mothergoosetime.com/

Health and safety week

Welcome back this week with our mother goose time curriculum. Check it out here https://www.mothergoosetime.com/

We learned about firefighters, doctors, police officers, dentist, and bus drivers. Boy oh Boy we had some fun.

Calling all firefighters

We practiced how to touch the door with the back of our hand and if the door was hot we could not open it and we would need to go to a safe spot. We then practiced how to get low and we crawled to a safe spot.

Fire fork painting

The kids had a great time making a fire fork painting. I placed orange, yellow, and red paint out and the children then used a fork to make a fire on black paper.

Fire station counting

I love how our curriculum supplies us with cute manipulatives each month. My kids just loved these vehicle counters and we played with them so much. Our preschool curriculum also came with these cute fire station and number cards. We had a great time matching the number to the amount of garage spaces on the card.

What do we do when there is an emergency?Dial 9-1-1

I got some cute police officers y’all.

Our letter this week was Dd

D is for duck

D is for drum

We used a toothbrush and acted like a Dentist and we brushed all the hidden letter D’s and pictures beginning with the /d/ sound.

We had a lot of fun shaping playdough into the letter D and then using their fingerprints to trace the letter.

This week was Halloween so we had to make some cute little mummies to end our week!!

Thanks again for stopping by

We will see you again next week

Farming

This week with our preschool curriculum we experienced Farming with Experience Early Learning .

A couple of things we did this week was: learned the difference from sunrise to sunset, measured plants (tall and short), harvested crops, pulled weeds, played farmers market bingo and played many other fun farm games.

Sunrise/sunset

During circle time we started our week with this cute little song to the tune of “Mary had a little lamb”

The Sun Is Coming Up

Now the sun is coming up

coming up, coming up

now the sun is coming up

good morning to you

Now the sun is going down

going down, going down

now the sun is going down

good night to youthis song and picture is from experience preschool

Sunset shadows

With our Preschool curriculum we had an inspiration photo that helped the children’s creativity for their own art. I also asked questions to the children to inspire their creativity. Some of the questions I asked included: What colors do you see during a sunset? Could you mix or blend the colors together? What do you think might happen when you blend colors? The children always have such a great time using their own creativity to make their own painting.

Our next Invitation to create photo was a Plowed Field photo. We used brown paint, nature items, glue, sand, and a comb to create their own phot bI asked questions like what types of lines do you see in the photos? How do you think the lines were made? How can you use the comb to make lines across the paper?

They’re using the comb to make lines like the picture

The children loved adding textures to their painting.

Next, we practiced how to harvest crops. We tore different color construction paper to represent different crops. We had a cube that had different fruits and vegetables. I invited the children to toss the cube. For example: if the child rolled the lettuce then he would harvest “pick up” the green row.

In Math this week!!

We enjoyed pulling weeds out of play dough. The children would roll the cube and then would remove that amount of weeds from their play dough. we continued until there were no more weeds left in the Play dough.

We also had a great time measuring plants with blocks. The children loved counting and stacking the blocks. We also talked about which plant is tallest and which one was the shortest.

To finish up our week we picked pumpkins and painted them.

We really enjoyed our unit on farming and we cannot wait to start our unit on community helpers next week!! Mother Goose Time ( experience Early Learning ) https://www.mothergoosetime.com/ is such a great preschool curriculum and I hope you enjoy visiting my blog every week.

Farm Food

We have been exploring life on the farm and this week we focused on ” Farm Food”

When learning about farm food, children can have a deeper understanding of food and where it comes from. It is important to teach children the understanding of food sources. Some ways children can learn is Offering them Experiences such as planting real seeds and watching them grow or giving children real produce to explore. Children learn early on about nutrition, health choices and kitchen safety, which is critical to continue healthy habits.

E is for Egg

This week we focused the letter E. Children had to color the uppercase E and the lowercase e and then they placed a bean on the pictures beginning with the /e/ sound.

Bean Designs

I set out Design Mats supplied from experience learning curriculumand placed dry beans on the table. I encouraged the children to choose a Design Mat, next I encouraged the children to arrange the beans onto the mat to match the design.

More on letters…

lets Feed our horse some L’s, I’s, and E’s carrots.

Corn!!

What do you notice about corn?

What food can you make with corn?

Popcorn song by Greg and Steve

Let’s Shuck some corn

We had a great time using bubble wrap and making our

Very own corn on the cob.

Where do you think carrots grow.

We practices pulling ribbons out of our fist acting like

We were pulling the carrots out of the ground. Next we

Made carrot puppets.

I hope you enjoyed peaking into our week on Farm Food. If you are loving my blogs on preschool Curriculum check out experience early learning https://www.mothergoosetime.com/

See you next week.

In The Barn

Explore barnyard sights, smells and sounds. This week we had a great time turning our daycare into a farm. Children can better understand farm life by exploring through their senses.

what do you think is inside a silo?

During circle time I sat out blocks and invited the children to take turns stacking them on top of each other and creating a tall silo. I explained that silos hold grains for animals to eat. we then had fun making silo shakers that came in our preschool curriculum box and filling them with different kinds of grains. We had so much fun dancing and shaking the silo and listening to all the different sounds.

Tractor Wheels

The children arranged foam stickers on the tube to make tire treads.

The children then rolled the tube in black paint and created tractor wheels on the construction paper. The children had a great time painting their own red tractor onto the paper for the finishing touch.

We had a great time this week exploring the farm with experience learning. We loved the haystack small group math game. I love how the children are getting so good at identifying numbers.

Letter recognition is another thing we have been working on and this week we focused on the letter I. Experience Early Learning makes learning so much fun.

I is for iguana

I is for insects

I is for Igloo

This week was fun on the farm see you next week

Farm Animals

Exploring life on the farm, look for the lost lamb letters, count sheep, chicken eggs, and cow spots are just a few of the things we did this week.

Learning about life on the farm is a wonderful way to get children excited about animals, nature, food, and tools.

We had a great time talking about chickens and we found out a fun fact that chickens lay about 265 eggs per year😮

We played a very fun game on the chicken life cycle and we had to help the chick make it to the chicken coop before rolling a Fox.

We also used plastic eggs and made egg stamping with white and yellow paint. I set out our inspiration photo and observed how the children respond to the photo and how they made choices about how to create their own art.

Look at some of the fun animals we made this week.

I have to say I have the cutest pigs on the farm. Don’t you think??

Here is their Horse Collage. Look and see what shapes they’re using for the horses head, legs, and body.

We also talked about the letter “L” this week “L” is for Lamb. we are focusing on the shape of a Square this month. The kids had a great time putting together shapes with popsicle sticks to make a barnyard fence and then place stickers all around making his own farm.

I love how Mother Goose Time curriculums puts together the most amazing small group activities. There are so many ways to use this awesome theme poster.

Now check out how we ended our week with an epic game of farm animal knock down/bowling

Friendly Traits

Friendly Traits

It is very important to teach children at an early age friendly traits. This may include how to share, following directions, being kind, encouraging others, and helping others.

It’s important to teach children how to care for people around them and notice other people’s emotions, so they can use their awareness to help others.

We made sharing friendship bracelets together as a class. We put the beads in a bowl of water and encouraged the children to work together to spoon up a bead then give it to a friend to put on their bracelets. When we were done I encouraged the children to wear their bracelets as a reminder to share when they played throughout the day.

This week in our creative corner

The children made cards for someone using encouraging words we talked about how we want to be our friends and our family members biggest cheerleaders. We played many games this week teaching the children encouraging words like: way to go, you got this, you can do it, you rock!!!

One activity from our preschool curriculum that the children loved was called Tears. I set out the inspiration photo, paper, eyedroppers, and four different cups with saltwater and used food coloring making each cup a different color. The children used the eye dropper to squeeze color freely onto paper. This open up conversations about what tears taste like? Why do you think tears taste salty? How do you help a friend when sad? Where do tears come from?

The children love using the Multi-style Tangrams and I really enjoyed listening and watching them encouraging their friend to fill the shape outlines. The children used their cooperation skills such as taking turns, sharing materials, and listening to the ideas of others. I love how Experience Early Learning supply us with so many great learning activities.

We had such a great week learning how to be better friends and using encouragement in our daily life. We love our preschool curriculum.

Pet Week

Children love learning about animals. This week opened up many opportunities to have conversations with the children. With our preschool curriculum we talked about responsibilities that you have when having a pet in your home, we told funny stories about our pets and we also engaged in conversations about what kind of pets we wish we had.
Dogs and cats where the most popular pet topic this week. We had so much fun making dog shakers and cat hats.

We had a great time engaging in many stories about pets. Some of the stories we read this week include:

  • Mind Your Manners, Biscuit!
  • Puppies For Sale
  • Snuggle puppy
  • Go Dog Go
  • What Is It? The Pigeon Wants A Puppy
  • Rainbow Fish

We played a fun pet bingo game and played a fun sorting game. That were included with our preschool curriculum. Check it out here https://www.mothergoosetime.com/

We used yarn as the bingo pieces because that’s what cats like to chase. We also let the children explore by acting like little kitty cats chasing yarn. Our sorting game was a great opportunity for counting and practice colors with our younger children.

Bird Collage

We had a great time looking out the window and setting out our inspirational photo about birds. I asked questions like where do birds sit? How would you make a place for the birds to sit on your art page like our picture. The children had a fun time thinking about how a bird would sit and then they decorated their birds with feathers.

Feed The Bird was such a fun way to practice counting.

Fishbowl

This was another activity that we used our inspiration photo with Experience Early Learning.
During this time I invited the children to the table to make a handprint on the paper, then I asked the children to turn into a fish and handed them a Googly Eye. They also used green tissue paper to make seaweed and then we used beans for the gravel at the bottom of the fishbowl.

Such a fun week exploring pets, see you again next week!!
